Harmonisation of university programmes on the cards in Kenya

Kenya’s ministry of education, science and technology is to consult with professional bodies to harmonise the accreditation of academic programmes offered by universities.

Fred Matiang’i, appointed cabinet secretary of the ministry on 24 November, said the move is aimed at ensuring that the growth of the country’s universities does not compromise the quality of education and training.

Matiang’i spoke at a Nairobi meeting on 7 December attended by chairpersons of university councils, vice-chancellors and principals of public universities and constituent colleges.
