Matiang’i stresses need for Kenyan university reform

Kenya’s cabinet secretary for education has stressed the need to revitalise university education in the country, with quality at all levels the focus of reform.

Fred Matiang’i voiced his concern at a forum addressing curriculum reform in Nairobi on 14 December. He said simply creating more universities was not the way to go.

The rapid scaling-up of degree-awarding bodies in the country could end up compromising the quality of higher education, he said.
