Makerere gets up to speed on evidence-based health policies

A European Union-funded initiative to promote evidence-based policymaking in Uganda was launched last month at Makerere University.

The university’s school of public health will implement the Supporting Policy Engagement for Evidence-based Decisions initiative, which will receive €3.2 million (US$3.4m) from the EU as well as €800,000 from six participating European and African partners.

The initiative aims to strengthen capacity for policy analysis, advice and influence at Makerere University’s school of public health and accelerate the country’s move to universal health care.
