Overcrowding, unsuitable environment cited for Kisii closures

Kenya’s Commission for University Education has revealed the reasons why it ordered the closure of 10 out of 13 campuses of Kisii University earlier this month.

The CUE noted that some campuses are overcrowded, leading to lecture rooms, libraries, seminar rooms and administrative areas competing for space.

It also said that the campuses were situated in locations or environments not compatible with learning. In addition, irregularities were found in the transfer of postgraduate students to Kisii from other institutions.
