The University of Nairobi has celebrated its performance in the Times Higher Education emerging economy university rankings, despite falling over 50 places since last year.
The university fell from 201st place in 2015 to 252nd place in this year’s ranking, published on 30 November. Yet a statement from Nairobi seemed to celebrate that it is the only East African institution to make the list.
“It is no easy task to appear in the 2017 BRICS & Emerging Economies Rankings, which use the same 13 rigorous and demanding performance indicators as the overall World University Rankings,” the university quotes Phil Baty, editor of the THE rankings, as saying.
