More money for Nairobi university’s research and innovation efforts

Kenya’s government is increasing funding to the University of Nairobi by KSh 100 million (US$1m) to bolster research and innovation at the institution in the 2017/18 financial year.

President Uhuru Kenyatta made the announcement, as well as promised more support for research generally, during the Nairobi Innovation Week this month.

The funding would bring UoN’s total allocation for the financial year to approximately KSh 1 billion.
