Rwanda centre seeks PhDs to tackle ‘internet of things’

The Africa Centre of Excellence focusing on the ‘internet of things’, based at the University of Rwanda, is inviting applications to its PhD programmes.

The internet of things describes a network of connected computing devices that talk without requiring human input. It looks to a future where increasing numbers of everyday objects—fridges, security systems and the like—are interconnected.

Full and partial scholarships are available to students from East and Southern Africa. Two programmes are on offer: wireless sensor intelligent networking and embedded computing systems. The funding covers four years.
