Sokoine University of Agriculture in Tanzania is partnering with the Cystinet-Africa initiative to offer PhD studies related to the transmission of Taenia solium, a tapeworm that can be transferred between pigs and humans.
With funding from Germany, Sokoine and Cystinet-Africa are seeking Tanzanian applicants for the two PhD scholarships and the masters.
Research will be undertaken in Kongwa and Songwe districts of Tanzania focused on community practices and attitudes fuelling the spread and control of the worm infestation.
