Ugandan to head population and health centre

The African Population and Health Research Centre’s board of directors has picked a Ugandan epidemiologist as executive director.

Catherine Kyobutungi will replace Alex Ezeh from Nigeria, who has been at the helm of the Nairobi-based organisation for 18 years.

The appointment follows a search by the firm Perrett Laver, which contacted more than 800 individuals, reports the APHRC website. However, in the end the search landed on Kyobutungi, the council’s head of research, who will stay in this role until she takes up the director post in October.
