Research resumes after tense elections in Kenya

Research activities at various institutions and universities in Kenya have resumed, a week after elections marred by violent clashes.

Uhuru Kenyatta was re-elected president on 8 August but the result has been rejected by Raila Odinga, his challenger. Odinga called on supporters not to go to work on 14 August, a date that was changed to 15 August and then seems to have been largely ignored.

Nairobi and Kisumu saw skirmishes between opposition supporters and the police over the weekend.
