Makerere reserves 40% of STEM student places for women

The council of Makerere University in Uganda has approved a policy to boost the enrolment of women in science, technology, engineering and mathematics degrees.

The policy ring-fences 40 per cent of student places in all STEM disciplines for women. 

“This is a great leap forward for Makerere University,” said vice-chancellor Barnabas Nawangwe in a statement.
