EU-Africa food security scheme to lift off next year

The European Commission says that a workplan for its newly announced innovation partnership with Africa focusing on food security will be ready by September 2014.

A group of experts involved in science and technology looking at various issues surrounding food security, nutrition and sustainable agriculture will be established early next year to draw up the workplan.

“[They will be] tasked with developing a detailed roadmap concretely defining the scope and outlining the different steps to be taken towards this new partnership,” says Inmaculada Martinez Garcia of the EU’s media office for research, innovation and science.
