RISE network receives final Carnegie grant

The Regional Initiative in Science and Education in Africa, which trains graduate students, has received its third and final grant from the Carnegie Corporation in New York.

The final award of nearly US$5 million, announced on 19 December, brings the initiative’s total budget to US$15m since its inception in 2008.

By the end of the grant period in 2016, RISE aims to have graduated a total of 200 PhD and masters students from more than a dozen African countries.
