NIH announces big investments in African health

     

Two new programmes will develop gene-based medicine and data science

The United States National Institutes of Health has committed over US$160 million to R&D in Africa or benefiting the continent, focusing on data science and gene-based medicine. 

One six-year, US$62m programme will explore whether data science advances can spur health discoveries in Africa. The first call for proposals for the scheme will be announced in 2020.
