Finland extends research cooperation hand to Africa

Finland has launched a platform for collaborating in innovation and research with Africa—a partnership between the University of Turku and the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa.

The university hosted a seminar for academics, policymakers and innovators from Finland and Africa on 26-27 August to launch the platform. The two organisations agreed in March this year to partner to tackle Sustainable Development Goal 9: Build resilient infrastructure, promote inclusive and sustainable industrialisation and foster innovation.

Through the platform the university “aims to become the university hub to support SDG9 in Africa”, its website states.
