South African team wins innovation prize

A South African research team was awarded the US$100,000 Innovation Prize for Africa at a ceremony in Cape Town on 7 May.

The AgriProtein team’s innovation uses fly larvae and organic waste to produce animal feed sustainably.

It was the second round of the prize, designed to promote African innovation and entrepreneurship. It is handed out by the African Innovation Foundation and the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa.
