The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (Unesco) and Intel, one of the world’s largest semiconductor chip makers, have agreed to develop skills in engineering and science. The five-year agreement prioritises Africa and women.
Unesco’s director-general, Irina Bokova, and Intel corporate affairs group president Shelly Esque signed the agreement on 13 April in Paris, France.
The organisations “will work together to strengthen engineering curricula in Africa by providing hands-on projects and software,” said Rovani Sigamoney from Unesco. The two organisations also hope to increase African participation at the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair.
