The John Innes Centre Science for Africa initiative is offering a four-year PhD studentship on developing tools to promote yellow rust resistance in African wheat.
Suitable candidates from sub-Saharan Africa are invited to apply by 7 June for the studentship, which will be based at the John Innes Centre in Norwich in the UK.
The four-year project will feature training in skills covering all aspects of plant molecular breeding, including bioinformatics. The student will join a multi-disciplinary group, and will interact with breeding companies to get insight into the commercial side of plant breeding.
