The Rwanda-based African Institute for Mathematical Sciences and the Côte d'Ivoire-based African Development Bank have agreed to partner to fuel the use of mathematics research in the continent’s development.
The two organisations signed a memorandum of understanding on 15 July in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire’s capital. The collaboration will include joint projects and programmes, as well as science and technology-themed events.
“If we want to leverage [artificial intelligence] and other cutting edge technologies and compete globally, we must train researchers and engineers who create the equations and algorithms that create transformative technologies,” said Thierry Zomahoun, AIMS head, in a statement.
