US$5m from Gates to prepare Africa for coronavirus
The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation announced on 26 January that it is giving US$5 million to efforts to screen for and treat cases in Africa of the deadly new coronavirus 2019-nCoV. The money will help the African Centres for Disease Control to scale up member nations’ public health measures. It will also help finance the laboratory confirmation of diagnoses, as well as the isolation and care of patients.
