Africa hosts few oncology trials despite rising clinical burden

A dearth of oncology research on African populations is leading to healthcare disparities, a paper has warned.

The paper published in JCO Global Oncology by researchers from Ghana, Nigeria, South Africa, Zimbabwe and the United States found only 109 cancer clinical trials open in Africa, almost half of which are in Egypt, followed by around 10 each in Algeria, Kenya and South Africa.
