Covid-19 clinical trials crucial in poor countries, researchers say

Research needed to guide ‘increasingly difficult choices’ facing healthcare systems

Tailored clinical trials and research are desperately needed to ensure that low- and middle-income country health systems survive the Covid-19 onslaught, researchers have warned in a paper.

The paper appeared in The Lancet on 2 April. It was written by the Covid-19 Clinical Research Coalition, a global collaboration that includes researchers from the Democratic Republic of Congo, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, the Republic of Congo, South Africa, Tanzania and Uganda.
