African quintet mooted for disease detective advisory group

Nominees will advise WHO on origins of emerging and re-emerging diseases

Five Africans appear among the proposed members of a group to advise the World Health Organization on efforts to define and guide studies into the origins of emerging and re-emerging diseases.

The five—from Cameroon, Kenya, Nigeria, Sudan and South Africa—are among 26 names suggested for the WHO Scientific Advisory Group for the Origins of Novel Pathogens (SAGO).
