Academics in the region were hamstrung by pay cuts and increased workload, analysis finds

Teaching and research staff at East African universities suffered from pay cuts and increased workload during the Covid-19 pandemic, analysis shows.

In Kenya and Tanzania, only half of university faculty were paid on time, while in Uganda a mere 17 per cent of faculty members reported timely payments.
