African universities urged to ‘identify research priorities’

                

Clearer priorities may help institutions navigate lack of funding, expertise and equipment, say health experts

Two public health scientists have said the need for African universities to define their research priorities has grown “more urgent than ever”, as scientists on the continent face a funding squeeze.

Writing in The Lancet Global Health’s October issue, Alice Lakati and Peninah Masibo from Kenya say such prioritisation would help universities to maximise the return on their scarce expertise, funding and facilities.
