The UK’s Royal Society and SABMiller, a South Africa-affiliated beverage company, have announced a five-year scheme to fund collaborative research projects between UK and sub-Saharan Africa.

The SABMiller-Royal Society Exchange Programme’s research priorities are water and sanitation, agriculture and crop science, and renewable energy.

A total of £21,000 (US$31,000) each will be given over three years to cover research and travel costs for projects focusing on, but not restricted to, Tanzania and Ghana.
