Training scheme strikes deals with Morocco, South Korea

An Africa-led research and innovation training initiative has signed agreements with Korean and Moroccan organisations to expand its support programmes for African scientists.

The Partnership for Skills in Applied Sciences, Engineering and Technology launched its Regional Scholarship and Innovation Fund in 2015 with inaugural funding from Ethiopia, Rwanda and Senegal. It supports doctoral training and research for African academics.

On 20 May the initiative signed agreements with four research institutions in the Republic of Korea (also known as South Korea) and one in Morocco (see list at the end of the story). These agreements will see the partner institutions host RSIF-funded PhD scholars as visiting researchers for a year or two. They will also facilitate joint research projects and exchange programmes.
