East Africa and Egypt eligible for chairs on forced migration

Research chairs will receive up to CA$600,000 each

Canada’s International Development Research Centre has launched a call for proposals to fund research chairs to study forced displacement in East Africa and the Middle East.

The funding, announced on 8 April, will award up to two East African universities and two Middle Eastern universities up to CA$600,000 each over five years to establish the chairs. African countries eligible for the award are Burundi, Djibouti, Egypt, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Kenya, Rwanda, Sudan, South Sudan, Tanzania and Uganda. Egypt is eligible for the Middle East chairs. The deadline for applications is 3 August.
