Africa-wide commercialisation centre launched in SA

Stellenbosch to host institution charged with upscaling innovations

Stellenbosch University in South Africa has been chosen to host a continental centre of excellence to boost the commercialisation of innovations. The African Union Development Agency Centre of Excellence in Science, Technology, and Innovation was launched on 22 June.

The centre is one of five AUDA centres of excellence on the continent. The others focus on rural resources and food systems, in Dakar, Senegal; on climate resilience, in Cairo, Egypt; on human capital and institution development in Nairobi, Kenya; and on supply chains and logistics, which will be based at an as yet unnamed Central African location.
