Biotech business explores mRNA vaccine production in West Africa

              

Senegal and Rwanda set to benefit from partnership with Germany’s BioNTech

Germany-based biotechnology company BioNTech is exploring plans to set up vaccine manufacturing capabilities in West Africa to produce cutting-edge mRNA vaccines.

The company announced the plans in a joint communique on 27 August after meeting the presidents of Rwanda and Senegal, Paul Kagame and Macky Sall, as well as European Commission president Ursula von der Leyen.
