Nigerian becomes first Africa-born scientist to take NIH scientific director post
Charles Rotimi, a Nigerian geneticist based in the United States for many years, has been appointed scientific director of the US National Human Genome Research Institute.
On 10 October Rotimi (pictured) will take over the post from Dan Kastner, who has held it for 11 years. Rotimi will become the first Africa-born scientist to hold a scientific directorship at the National Institutes of Health, of which NHGRI is a part.
