Carnegie contributes $1m to African training network

Grants will help five PhD graduates and 20 PhD students

The Carnegie Corporation of New York has handed US$950,000 to the International Centre of Insect Physiology and Ecology to strengthen doctoral and postdoctoral research in Africa over the next two years.

Icipe will channel the funds to the Regional Scholarship and Innovation Fund Junior Investigator Research Award, which will help up to five RSIF PhD graduates who hold positions in institutions in Africa gain research and management skills, and help them access networks that will allow them to become independent researchers.
