Global health body launches plan to coordinate Mpox response, boosting surveillance and research

The World Health Organization has outlined what the world needs to do—and what it will cost—to halt the global outbreak of Mpox driven by a new variant of the disease.

The Geneva-based body published its strategic response plan on 26 August 2024, setting out the efforts needed at global, regional and national level to contain the disease, after declaring it a public health emergency of international concern earlier this month.
