South Africa’s National Research Foundation will audit its funding instruments to assess their effectiveness.
Gansen Pillay, the deputy chief executive of the NRF, said the grantmaker has commissioned the DST-NRF Centre of Excellence in Scientometrics and STI Policy at Stellenbosch University to conduct the review.
“It will give us baseline data that will allow us to make more informed decisions,” Pillay said at the launch of the centre of excellence on 6 November.
