The University of Cape Town won more research funding from the US National Institutes of Health in 2013 than any other non-US university, according to recently published data.
UCT received US$9 million from the health research funder in 2013, compared with US$2.6m in 2010.
Danie Visser, deputy vice-chancellor for research at UCT, described the funding as a feather in his institution’s cap that confirms its international competitiveness.
