The journalism school at the University of the Witwatersrand is looking to fund research into the #FeesMustFall movement and the role of social and traditional media in the campaign.
Proposals to access the “modest remuneration” offered through the grant—a partnership with PEN South Africa, a freedom of expression advocacy group and writers organisation—must reach Wits by 31 January.
The research should consider the #FeesMustFall protests, how the media reported on it as well as the academics or students who took part. The organisers will assign winners with a supervisor.
