South Africa’s Department of Science and Technology will hold four workshops during January to discuss designated astronomy advantage areas in the Karoo with residents and interested parties.
The workshops will be held on 18 to 21 January inside the designated zones. The 20 January workshop will be in Carnarvon, the town closest to the area that will host the central hub of the giant Square Kilometre Array radio telescope.
The purpose of the workshops is to help members of local communities respond to the regulations tabled for the areas by the government.
