South Africa and China are set to increase innovation cooperation through an agreement that will see a China-Africa International Technology Transfer Centre established in Pretoria.

The deal between The Innovation Hub, the Gauteng province’s innovation agency, and the Chongqing Academy of Science and Technology, based in western China, was signed on 28 October.

According to The Innovation Hub, the agreement will include exchanges between universities and other research organisations, and will focus on medical innovations to ease import pressure.
