South Africa and Namibia announced a joint research chair in astronomy and astrophysics on 21 November.
The SA-Nam Research Chair will be jointly funded and managed by the South African National Research Foundation and the Namibian National Commission on Research Science and Technology.
The position will initially be available for five years with two possible extensions in future for another 10 years in total.
