South Africa has launched a publication that highlights the careers of women researchers in a bid to inspire more to get involved in science and innovation.
The publication was launched at the South African National Science Week in Port Elizabeth on 5 August. It features profiles of 25 women scientists who describe their careers and challenges.
“We celebrate the achievement of unique women, who, despite a myriad of challenges and adversity, have become successful icons in different disciplines of science in South Africa,” writes Himla Soodyall, from the National Health Laboratory Service, in the foreword.
