High variance between universities found in government figures
There are wide disparities in subsidy dependency and quality among South Africa’s 26 universities, figures from the Department of Higher Education and Training show.
Gwebinkundla Qonde, the director-general of the DHET, presented the data to MPs on Parliament’s portfolio committee on higher education, science and technology on 29 October.
