South Africa to probe quality of PhD training

   

Doctoral numbers have increased faster than supervisory capacity at universities

South Africa’s Council for Higher Education is undertaking a nationwide review of the quality of the country’s doctoral programmes. 

The review will consist of a self-examination by universities and other PhD-training institutions in South Africa, combined with site visits by a review panel. The visits will take place between July and October 2020.
