US foundation backs SANBI data competition

Teams in Malawi, Rwanda, and Ghana will compete for prizes but more funding is available

A United States-based funder, the JRS Biodiversity Foundation, has awarded more than US$300,000 to the South African National Biodiversity Institute for an African data competition.

JRS announced the grant on 14 November. SANBI will use the funding for a competition that will reward innovative ways of using biodiversity data for sustainable development.
