MPs call on Nzimande to sanction universities failing to promote women

Committee wants ‘stronger repercussions’ for institutions that don’t heed equity laws

South African MPs have called for measures to sanction the governing councils of universities that do not comply with gender-based equity policies.

The message comes in a report on gender issues in the higher education system published by the portfolio committee on higher education, science and technology on 17 July.
