Former Wits vice-chancellor says it’s only a matter of time before riots spark again
Outspoken former University of the Witwatersrand vice-chancellor Adam Habib has claimed that it is only a matter of time before South Africa’s disastrous July looting spree recurs.
The wave of looting and violence followed the imprisonment of former president Jacob Zuma for contempt of the Constitutional Court. At the time academics called for a return to activist universities and scientists for a series of drastic interventions.
