None of the 25 publications scrutinised by review escape criticism
Two South Africa-based history journals that qualify for the Department of Higher Education’s publication subsidy have been recommended for removal from the list by a panel tasked with evaluating quality in local publishing.
The recommendation comes in a subject-specific review of South African journals covering history, politics and philosophy published on 26 May. It was carried out by a panel of experts convened by the Academy of Science of South Africa (Assaf) in an effort to boost the quality of local scholarly publishing.
