Parliamentary committee set to grapple with university freedom

Comments sought for 10 September colloquium ahead of series of meetings

South Africa’s parliamentary portfolio committee on higher education, science and technology is still looking for input for a colloquium this week on the issue of university autonomy.

On 3 September the committee invited the public and stakeholders to make submissions by 4pm on 9 September. The colloquium will be held the following day. It was originally slated for 20 August, but was postponed on 17 August, with no reason given by Nompendulo Mkhatshwa, the committee chair.
