Leadership crisis hits reputation of South Africa’s top research university

An acrimonious leadership crisis is battering Africa’s highest-ranked university, roiling its senior staff, researchers and students, and spilling out into the wider community.

The past two weeks have revealed a deep split in the University of Cape Town’s governance bodies, especially its council, the highest decision-making body of the university.
