Decision means university will “immediately” reinvest in green technologies

The University of Cape Town in South Africa’s governing council has given the go-ahead for the institution to move away from fossil fuel investments in its endowment fund.

The move, announced on 18 March, will see the university formally divest from the fossil fuel industry and “immediately” shift those investments to renewable energy or other green technologies, the university said.
