Embattled Unisa rejects charge it ‘curried favour’ with judges

“Silly and slanderous” to suggest honorary degrees were used to win judicial favour, university says

The University of South Africa has “dismissed with contempt” suggestions that it is awarding honorary degrees to two judges in order to “curry favour” with the judiciary.

The 16 October statement comes after Unisa was granted a court order earlier this month blocking higher education minister Blade Nzimande from placing it under administration.
